The owner´s house is a simple one bedroom cottage with open plan living room/kitchen, plus veranda to make more living space. The lodge is connected to email and the internet by cellular phone with 98% of reservations made this way and it is dependable. The lodge has satellite television reception. The vegetation is kikuyu grass, local trees including pod mahogany and coconuts and a minimum of informal gardens using hardy species. The access road does not require a 4 wheel drive even during rains. Lease dates from November 2004, it is for 50 years renewable for another 50 years. Legislation is expected to be passed in the near future which will give landholders their title deeds. There is a village market about 3.5 km down the main road where one can buy fresh fruit, vegetables and bread and have repairs such as sewing and welding done.
