Balaram Palace Resort, once the hunting retreat of the Lohani Nawab of Palanpur, is now a Heritage Classic hotel. It was built between 1922-1936 by His Highness Zubd-ul-Mulk Dewan Mahakhan Nawab Sir Taley Muhammad Khan Lohani, one of the best known of the Nawab dynasty.

Balaram Palace Resort takes you into the bygone Nawabi period, truly the period of northern Gujarat combined with south western region of Rajasthan. It is a graceful manifestation of neo-classical and baroque architectural style.

Situated amidst the Aravallis in the 542 sq. kms of Balaram Ambaji Reserve Forest at the tip of North Gujarat it borders Rajasthan. The palace is set in 13 acres of terraced upland rising from a hilly stream and surrounded by lush green gardens and designed flower beds. The palace was visited by several dignitaries during the British Raj, including Lord Mountbatten.

The Balaram Palace Resort located in Village Chitrasani lies off the Ahmedabad-Mt Abu National highway-14, running across the District of Banaskantha in Gujarat. Balaram Palace had been functional as the weekend retreat and hunting resort of the Lohanis. They were the rulers from Jalore in South western Rajasthan who moved on to Palanpur after Jalore was annexed.

This heritage mansion contains a total of seventeen luxurious rooms, four gold rooms, twelve platinum rooms and an exclusive one-of-a-kind Nawab Suite and five tents. All the rooms are equipped with colour TV, telephone, refrigerator, attached baths, fireplace and handcrafted furniture. Some of the royal rooms even have a colonial style with English fireplaces and marble-faced beds.

The extraordinary Nawab Suite has a separate living room and overlooks the royal gardens and was used by Nawab Sahib. The beautifully designed palatial Platinum rooms are located in the main palace and were used by Nawab Sahib's family and friends. Well appointed and luxurious in every respect, they have a separate dressing area.

The Gold Rooms were used by the ADC of Nawab Sahib and are moderate size to comfortably accommodate a couple. They have a sit-out area at the rear side with a private garden.

The Royal Tents have been crafted merging with the ambience of the palace and are uniquely designed with separate living space and dressing rooms. They have sit-outs on the rear and front.

The Chitrasani restaurant is air conditioned and serves North Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine.

Balaram Palace Resort has a banquet/conference hall with seating for 75 people and a further 30 persons can be accommodated in the in U-type sitting chairs. In addition there is a Health club.

The gardens have been carefully planned to assist rain-water flow, restore an ancient spring-water source to make a rare natural pool to swim in and fresh vegetarian organic delights (especially their orange juice) are some of the reasons to make you feel happy to be in this Eco-sensitive destination.

Balaram Palace Resort is scenically located with green hills in the background and a river flowing down the hill. Once you reach here you too can become a part of nature.

Situated 167 km from Ahmedabad and 64 km from Mount Abu the Balaram Palace Resort is located on a hill top with pristine views on all sides. There is plenty to see and do within easy travelling of the hotel.

The Jain Temples of Taranga 85 kms, the Holy Temples of Ambaji, witness the wonders of Tribal lifestyles, fairs and festivals of the Aravalli Hill home to some of the colourful original tribal communities who still live in traditional hamlets and mud- huts and the Jessore Sloth - Bear Sanctuary is located in the Jessore hills only 22km from the hotel and apart from the sloth bear is home to leopard , jungle cat, civet wolf and hyena.
