An outstanding Renaissance chateau in the heart of Gascony whose origins are documented as dating 1068.

This beautiful chateau originally stood in the centre of the village and following a remarkable and colourful history it was in May 1488 that Charles VII, King of France, ordered the chateau to be pulled down for felony crimes. In 1491 reconstruction of the chateau began on the site it occupies today at the edge of the village.

The chateau is constructed over four levels with 1000 m2 of usable space and retains most of its Middle Age architectural features. It is believed that the original chateau was in fact twice this size and that the remainder of the stone was used in the creation of the village houses we see today. The village itself is absolutely stunning and is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France

Today the chateau is used in part as a private home with three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and elegant living room. There are a further seven bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, which are used for guests on a chambres de hote basis. The kitchen is located on the ground floor with three reception rooms, the largest of which is also used as a dining room.

The third floor of the chateau is not in use at this time. Sadly the property suffered a fire on this floor in 2009 which destroyed a large part of the five bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms that did exist on this floor. Considerable works have taken place to repair the roof, electrics, windows and walls. Further finishes are required to complete this part of the property.

Attached to the chateau is a guardians house with open plan living room, kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, and three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the first floor.

Outside the park is 8791 m2 of sheer beauty enjoying a large open lawn surrounded by woodland and meandering river that serves as a moat. The swimming pool is 14 m x 6 m with a depth of 1.6 m, plus Roman stepped end. At one end of the pool is a separate Jacuzzi.

The chateau is located in the heart of Gascony close to Montreal, Condom, Mezin and Gers.
